Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, Valve Corporation, la software house ben bota per la realizzazione dei game Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal e Team Fortress, e a cui si deve la realizzazione di interessanti tecnologie orientate al gaming, come il motore grafico Source e il network Steam, ha annunciato ufficialmente il prossimo titolo "multi-player only" Dota 2.

Dota 2 è, più in dettaglio, il sequel dello scenario (mod) Defense of the Ancients (DotA, appunto) relativo al ben noto Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne; in accordo allo sviluppatore, Dota 2 è in grado di regalare ai gamer on line le emozioni e le sensazioni sia di un gioco di tipo RTS (Real Time Strategy) che di un RPG (Role-Playing Game).

Valve ha reso noto ch il game è attualmente in fase di sviluppo per le piattaforme Microsoft Windows e Apple Mac OS X. Il suo rilascio avverrà nel corso del 2011.
