Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, Sony Optiarc America ha annunciato il masterizzatore DVD/CD esterno in formato slim siglato DRX-S70U-W. Si tratta di una device dal design accattivante, che è il complemento ideale dei sistemi di tipo portatile, come notebook e netbook, oltreché dei desktop, a cui è collegabile tramite una porta USB 2.0.
Tra le specifiche dichiarate dal costruttore, segnaliamo la velocità di scrittura massima che è pari a 8X con i supporti in formato DVD+/-R e i DVD+RW, a 6X con i DVD-RW, a 5X con i DVD-RAM e a 24X con i CD-R/RW.
Il burner DRX-S70U-W, che include nel suo bundle la ben nota suite di mastering Nero, sarà disponibile nel mercato statunitense a partire dalla parte finale del mese di Ottobre, in due differenti colorazioni (nero e bianco). Sony non ha dichiarato l'MSRP del prodotto.

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept 29, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ - Sony Optiarc America today unveiled an external slim and portable multi-format DVD/CD recordable drive to compliment notebooks, Netbooks or desktop PCs.
The new DRX-S70U-W sports a sleek design and supports up to 8X DVD+/-R recording speeds, delivering a full 4.7 GB disc of video, data, music or images on standard 8X DVD+/-R media. In addition, the drive can record on 8.5GB DVD+/-R Double/Dual layer and 4.7GB DVD-RW discs at 6X speeds, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD-RAM at 5X and CD-R/RW at 24X.
The drive comes bundled with the Nero(R) DVD/CD mastering software suite, and offers quick and easy connectivity with a high speed USB (USB 2.0) digital interface for simple setup and maximum flexibility.
According to the Consumer Electronics Association, shipments of Netbook PCs have doubled over the past year and are expected to nearly triple by the end of next year.

Availability The DRX-S70U-W drive will be available in a sleek black or white design at the end of October through authorized distributors, resellers and select online shopping sites.
