Plextor ha annunciato una nuova linea di dischi rigidi esterni siglata PX-SP, compatibile con i Sistemi Operativi Windows di Microsoft (2000 e successivi) e Macintosh di Apple (9.1 e successivi). I dispositivi sono conformi allo standard di interconnessione Hi-Speed USB 2.0 che garantisce un valore massimo della velocitą di trasmissione dei dati pari a 480Mb/s.
Le capacitą dei dischi che, in accordo alle specifiche del costruttore, sono protetti da un "silicon jacket bumper" che ne consente il trasporto "sempre e dovunque", sono pari a 80Gb (modello siglato PX-SP08U) e 120Gb (modello siglato PX-SP12U).

Minimum System Requirements
PX-SP Series drives require a personal computer running Windows 2000/XP(TM) or Mac OS 9.1 - 9.2.2 / Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.4.4, with minimum Celeron 466-MHz processor and 64 MB RAM.
Pricing and Availability
Plextor PX-SP series drives will ship to distributors in North and South America in May 2006. The PX-SP08U, with 80 GB capacity, has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $169. The PX-SP12U, with 120 GB capacity, has a MSRP of $260.00. All retail packages include two-year full parts and labor warranty and unlimited toll-free technical support.
