VIA Technologies ha reso noto che la prossima settimana, presso la Digital Signage Expo 2010 che si terrà a Las Vegas negli U.S., sarà mostrato un prototipo della video card dual-gpu siglata S3 Graphics Chrome 5400E x2, una soluzione progettata per accelerare in hardware qualsiasi tipologia di codec HD.
In accordo al produttore, la S3 Graphics Chrome 5400E x2 è dotata della tecnologia PanoChrome di S3 Graphics, che permette di elaborare simultaneamente con la risoluzione di 1080p fino a quattro stream video in HD e di inviarli a un massimo di otto display.
Siamo di fronte ad un prodotto che, nonostante le apparenze, non vuole entrare e non entrerà in competizione con le schede grafiche di ATI/AMD che supportano la tecnologia Eyefinity, dal momento che il primo è indirizzato all'ambito del low-power computing e le seconde a quelle dei desktop ad alte prestazioni.
VIA ha reso noto che i primi sample della scheda S3 Graphics Chrome 5400E x2 saranno inviati agli ODD (Original Design Manufacturer) nel corso del secondo trimestre dell'anno corrente.

Samples of the S3 Graphics Chrome 5400E x2 will initially be available to ODM customers in the US from Q2 2010.

VIA will also be demonstrating its growing range of board and system-level digital signage products. These including the VIA VB8003 board, the first Mini-ITX board to feature a dedicated graphics processor and support for both dual HDMI, DVI and VGA ports.
